reminiscence (audiovisual work) 2022

reminiscence is a fragmented, romantic recollection presented as a stream of consciousness. The work engages with found footage ranging from archival instructional films, static visual effects and audio recordings of an anonymous speaker addressing and remembering a past love. The piece is subjective to the viewer, it serves as a canvas upon which the viewer can project their own experiences. reminiscence was the winner of the Open Ears Festival’s 2022 Emerging Digital Sound Art Competition.

Multimedia work (HD black and white video, stereo audio)

Open length (full cycle 11:02 minutes) 

Dimensions variable:

  • for site presentation: 2 loudspeakers, 1 projector, playback device 
  • for online presentation: hosting website with looping video playback plugin, viewer is encouraged to wear headphones

Note: the work contains flashing lights and moving images that may be sensitive to viewers with epilepsy, motion sickness, and/or sensory needs.
