"My experience working with Megan (READY, SET, SOUND!) was an absolute highlight of this year! In celebration of the Victoria Event Centre, they organized and put on an incredible and thoughtful farewell show to our most beloved local venue. I was lucky enough to take part in the event as a musical act. I witnessed the amazing behind the scenes work that Megan did, in partnership with show organizer Koko (Freak Frequencies formerly Hot Local Singles). Working with them was an awesome experience, and despite all the moving parts and undoubted pressure of putting on a show, Megan was always communicative, warm and kind! Above all, I was so encouraged and grateful to be a part of a bill that highlighted women, queer and BIPOC artists. I would recommend that folks work with Megan if they get the opportunity!" "I am a band member of Luna Land, and we are so fortunate to have had READY, SET, SOUND, begin in the same year as our band in 2024, and then to have Megan invite us to do a handful of READY, SET, SOUND shows. It's been the highlight of our year, every time that we play a show with READY, SET, SOUND. The reason for that is we are an all-fem, all-queer dream pop band, and we didn't know what that would land like in the Victoria music scene, especially because predominantly the population on stages is a lot of like cis[gender] white dudes, and we just didn't know how that would land. And when we debuted, and then when we did our shows with Megan, it's been nothing but a very inclusive, welcoming environment. Megan really shows up in their dedication to their work as a producer. They're very organized, very timely. We feel very like taken care of when we just arrive for soundcheck! And when we have new songs, Megan listens to them and gets as excited as we are about it, and they're so intentional.
We really hope we can continue working with them this year, upcoming year in 2025. And we're really looking forward to all that READY, SET, SOUND is going to create. It's the most diverse in genre, and inclusive, thoughtful, and centres around consent and safety, more than any other producer or show promoter I've worked with Luna Land. I think this is really needed for bands. I think that we need producers who understand the level of safety that's needed in order to have a really fun time and that's the nice thing is because these safety protocols of like having a harm reduction person on the team or making sure everyone's checked in on and understanding the dynamics of each band and introducing people to each other because because Megan takes on that labour as a producer.
The shows are so fun for the audience and the performers alike. Megan also takes videos and photos so we get assets for like grants and for applying to festivals and that's such an asset for musicians as well. Yes, those are all my praise-worthy things I want to say about READY, SET, SOUND and Megan." (Dec. 2024)
